Tank size set up and what actions have you taken will help.

Do you have anything in the tank living?

1. If not I would recommend some 6-12 zebra danios to help produce some waste and help seed the beneficial bacterial bed.Plus they make a nice toy for your P to chase around (IMHO a better choice then Feeders, for seeding)

2. If you have a friend or a small mom and pop LFS ask them for a small sample of gravel from an established tank and some to your filter and gravel in a small nylon hose.
this will help seed both.

3. as far as the WC I would not recommend it until after the intial drop in your readings the WC could reset the life cycle of the Bene bacteria that you are trying to esrtablish.
the only time I would recommend one is if you have already bought your P's and had palced them in the tank and the levels were life threatning.

Hope this helps.

You don't actually need the gravel though, just some of the mulm siphoned from it or squeezed from a filter pad. It may cloud up the tank for a few, but it's worth it when you don't have to play with your test kits for a whole month!

The key is time and to let nature do it's own balancing act.
